Macau Golden Week Visitor Arrivals Pass 750,000

Macau welcomed nearly 751,000 visitors during the first four days of October Golden Week, with October 4 setting a new single-day arrival record.

Preliminary figures from Macau’s Public Security Police show 210,325 visitors entered the city on Sunday, the highest daily total recorded for the holiday period. Average daily arrivals stood at just over 187,700 between October 1 and 4.

The seven-day holiday began on October 1, China’s National Day, and runs through October 7. The opening four days were around 25% above the Macao Government Tourism Office’s earlier estimate of 150,000 visitors per day across the holiday.

Visitor Numbers Rose Through the First Four Days

Macau received 169,635 visitors on October 1, up 22.3% year-on-year. Arrivals increased to 179,253 on October 2, representing growth of 10.2%.

According to GGRAsia, October 3 brought roughly 191,700 visitors, up 6.4% from the comparable day in 2025.

The first three days produced 540,549 arrivals, equivalent to a daily average of 180,183 and year-on-year growth of 27.4%.

Sunday’s record traffic then lifted the four-day total to approximately 750,000 to 751,000 visitors.

The Public Security Police also recorded about 844,000 total border movements on October 4, including arrivals and departures by visitors, residents and other travelers.

Mainland China Provides Most Holiday Traffic

Mainland China remained Macau’s largest visitor market during the opening period.

MGTO figures show that 467,348 mainland visitors arrived between October 1 and 3, accounting for around 86.5% of the total. That represented average daily mainland arrivals of 155,783 and year-on-year growth of 34.1%.

Hong Kong contributed another 51,423 visitors during the same period, up 7.3%.

The Border Gate handled the largest share of traffic over the first four days, with 355,199 visitor arrivals. Hengqin recorded 163,189, while another 104,057 entered through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

On October 4 alone, more than 98,000 visitors used the Border Gate, followed by over 45,000 through Hengqin and more than 29,000 via the bridge.

Holiday Period Runs Through October 7

This year’s Golden Week is one day shorter than the 2025 holiday, which ran from October 1 to 8.

Macau welcomed just over 1.14 million visitors during last year’s eight-day period.

The 2026 holiday had already produced two consecutive single-day arrival records by October 4. The October 3 figure surpassed the previous Golden Week record of 191,176 recorded in 2025, before Sunday’s total moved the benchmark above 210,000.

With three days remaining in the holiday after October 4, Macau had already received around three-quarters of a million visitors, led by strong mainland Chinese traffic.
