Pennsylvania Hits Record $554.6m Gaming Income in March 2024

Pennsylvania managed to reach $554.6m in income collected from all types of gambling in March, representing a 7.6% increase over the previous year, according to figures released on April 17 by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

A new record in a very short time:

The overall figure represents the 2nd time in 3 months that the Keystone State has established a fresh record. In addition, the previous record was in the last month of the previous year, at $534.2m.

Like December, the results in March were improved by a strong growth in online gaming income, which amounted to $191.1m. Of the total online gambling revenue, online table games generated $53.1m, representing an increase of 31.2% over March of the previous year. The revenue generated from online slots was $135.5m, a growth of 29.3% compared to the previous year. Simply put, the profits collected from online gaming grew by 29.0% annually.

Of all casinos in the Keystone State, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, located in Grantsville, has generated the highest gaming income at $88.2m, a year-over-year increase of 8.9%. After that, the second place belongs to Valley Forge Casino Resort located in King of Prussia, with an income of $88.0m, representing an increase of 28.4% compared to the previous year. And finally, the 3rd place belongs to the Parx Casino located in Philadelphia, which managed to collect $59.5m, a decline of 1.5% compared to 2023.

Income from slots, iGaming and sports wagering:

As for slot profit, it saw a marginal growth of 1.1%, which means it amounted to $227.9m, according to the official press release. The details are:

  • Rivers Casino Pittsburgh managed to earn $25.2m in slot income, which represents a growth of 1.3%
  • Wind Creek Bethlehem grossed $27.4m, a growth of 9.8% from the same time frame last year
  • Parx Casino generated $34.3m in slot income, down 2.4% on an annual basis

Regarding online gaming income, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was once again the leader with $72.3m in iGaming revenue, up 16.0%. Next comes Valley Forge Casino Resort with $50.8.7m, a sharp jump of 59.7%, followed by $32.7m in iGaming income collected by Rivers Casino Philadelphia, an increase of 7.2%.

And finally, regarding sports wagering income, Valley Forge Casino Resort collected $24.3m from a sports betting handle of $333.2m. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands was next, with $10.7m in income from a sports wagering handle of $209.2m. Last but not least, Hollywood Casino Morgantown took in $1.7m in sports wagering income from a sports wagering handle of $51.9m, according to the source.
