AGEM Index drops 6.1% in September amid general stock price declines

The AGEM Index recorded its first monthly decline since March 2026, falling 6.1% to 1,811.01 points in September as shares of major gaming equipment suppliers weakened.

Aristocrat Leisure Limited and Light & Wonder Inc. accounted for the largest negative contributions to the index, which tracks nine publicly traded gaming suppliers worldwide.

Aristocrat‘s share price declined 2.3% during September, reducing the index by 46.60 points.

Light & Wonder recorded a steeper stock price decline of 16.8%, subtracting 39.12 points from the index.

The decline in Light & Wonder shares followed an announcement that the CEO of SciPlay, its social-casino business, would leave the position at the end of October.

The index lost 118.24 points during September, bringing its value to 1,811.01. On a year-over-year basis, it was down 114.20 points, or 5.9%. Eight of the nine companies included in the index registered share price declines during the month, resulting in nine negative contributions and no positive contributions.

The downturn coincided with mixed performance across major U.S. equity markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 4.3% in September, while the S&P 500 fell 0.5%. The Nasdaq, however, gained 1.9% over the same period.

The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) publishes the index monthly, covering five gaming suppliers based in the United States and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq or over-the-counter markets. Three other companies trade on the Australian stock exchange, while one is listed in Tokyo.

The index uses each company’s month-end share price, adjusted for dividends and stock splits, with weightings based on approximate market capitalization. For companies listed outside the United States, market capitalizations are converted into U.S. dollar equivalents using month-end values to allow comparisons.
