AGEM Index gains 3.6% in May as gaming supplier stocks recover

Gaming-related equities tracked by the AGEM Index gained ground in May 2026, with U.S. equity markets also closing higher for the month.

The AGEM Index increased by 54.38 points in May to reach 1,578.22, marking a 3.6% rise from the previous month. The monthly gain came despite the index remaining below its level from a year earlier, with a year-on-year decline of 9.4%, or 162.96 points.

The latest monthly performance was supported by gains across most of the companies included in the index. Seven of the nine AGEM Index companies recorded stock price increases during May, producing six positive contributions and three negative contributions to the index.

Aristocrat Leisure Limited accounted for the largest positive contribution to the index in May. Its stock price rose 6%, adding 37.65 points to the AGEM Index. Agilysys also made a significant positive contribution, as its 35.1% stock price increase added 26.28 points to the index.

Konami Corp. was the largest negative contributor for the month. Although its stock price increased by 0.2%, the weakened Japanese yen exchange rate resulted in a 6.56-point loss to the AGEM Index.

The monthly increase in the AGEM Index came as all three major U.S. stock indices advanced from the prior month. The NASDAQ rose 8.4%, the S&P 500 gained 5.1%t, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 2.8 percent.

The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers produces the monthly AGEM Index, which tracks nine global gaming suppliers. Five of the suppliers are based in the United States and are listed on the NYSE, Nasdaq, or OTC market. Three companies trade on the Australian exchange, while one trades on the Tokyo exchange.

The index is calculated using the month-end stock price of each company, adjusted for dividends and splits, and is weighted based on an approximation of market capitalization. For manufacturers listed on foreign exchanges, market capitalizations are converted into U.S. dollar equivalents as of month-end to allow comparability.

The AGEM Index is based on a value of 100 points as of January 2005. Company stock prices and index contributions may be revised when required due to stock splits, reverse stock splits, mergers, acquisitions, and other business activities.
