Bullshark Games has released Doctor Dust, a 5×5 cascading cluster slot set in a bleak post-apocalyptic wasteland, where a mysterious plague doctor scavenges the ruins for components capable of reshaping the grid.
The new title has been built around what Bullshark Games calls one of its recurring design principles: “giving players a sense that something is continually building.” Wins are formed by clusters of four or more matching symbols, with every winning symbol collected towards unlocking Grid Boosters.
As the collection grows, the game can activate interactions across the grid, turning cascades into a chain of features and potential wins.
Doctor Dust introduces four Grid Boosters: Clone, Switch, Wilds and Power Line. Each affects the grid differently. Clone can reproduce a row across neighbouring rows, Switch can transform symbols within selected rows, Wilds can add between two and five Wild symbols to the grid, while Power Line clears a row and column before adding multipliers to the affected cells.
A Power Line can first place multipliers across the grid, for example, before Clone reproduces a row or Switch creates a larger matching connection. Multipliers attached to winning cells are applied to the win, while multiple multiplier cells within the same winning cluster can combine.
“This gives players the chance to quickly understand each Booster individually while gradually discovering how much stronger they can become when they line up together,” the provider explains.
That interaction was central to the design of Doctor Dust. Bullshark said it wanted regular wins to contribute to something rather than feel isolated: every winning symbol moves the collection forward, with Grid Boosters awarded as milestones are reached and the Bonus Game triggered once 40 winning symbols have been collected during a base-game spin.
The Bonus Game takes the progression further. It begins with all four Grid Boosters and uses winning-symbol collection to determine whether the feature continues. Collecting at least eight winning symbols during a Bonus Game spin earns another spin, together with between one and four Boosters depending on how many symbols were collected.
As long as the player continues meeting the collection requirement, the feature can keep going, creating an open-ended run rather than a traditional fixed number of Free Spins.
Andre Villandberg, Founder and CEO of Bullshark Games, said: “Doctor Dust is probably the release we’re most excited about this year. We wanted to take some of the progression and player feel that worked so well for us in Age of Seth, but build a completely different game around it.”
“The Grid Boosters are simple enough to understand individually, but when two, three, or four of them start working together in the right order, the game can change very quickly. That’s where we think the really memorable moments come from.”
The studio has also leaned into a darker visual direction for the release. Doctor Dust follows its plague-doctor protagonist through a polluted wasteland, scavenging components and crafting value from what remains. The theme mirrors the gameplay: pieces are collected, combined, and turned into something more powerful as the grid evolves.
With high volatility and a maximum win potential of 12,000x the bet, Doctor Dust is designed around escalating potential rather than a single isolated mechanic. Bullshark Games sees the title as a continuation of the progression-led approach found across several of its releases, while giving that philosophy a new structure and visual identity.
Villandberg added: “There is so much slot content being released that a game needs a reason to exist. For us, Doctor Dust has that. It doesn’t rely on adding complexity for the sake of it. You can see what the Boosters do, you can see what you’re collecting towards, and then the interesting part is watching those systems start to work together. We believe it is one of the strongest games we’ve made this year.”
Doctor Dust is available from 9 October 2026 and is distributed through Hacksaw Gaming’s OpenRGS platform.
