CEO of MGM: Online Gambling Necessary

Industry

Many people have wondered why there are no Las Vegas online casinos. Now, MGM online gambling could become a real thing, if there CEO has things his way. Bill Hornbuckle, the big man at MGM Resorts, put things quite plainly in a recent interview.

While speaking on a panel at Indyfest 2021, Hornbuckle said that Nevada casinos are “missing a significant opportunity for growth”. Well no kidding, Bill. Welcome to the 21st century. The state still has not regulated internet casino games, which is odd considering they were one of the leaders in the legalization of online poker and sports betting.

Hornbuckle was clear when he stated that there were a “whole contingent of folks” in Nevada who are opposed to online casino games, but he did not elaborate. But with the recent passing of long time ant-online gambling crusader Sheldon Adelson, things should be easier now.

The Nevada Independent reported that Hornbuckle is supportive of MGM online gambling because he believes web based casinos will be necessary for Nevada. This is due to what he called market saturation, especially when it comes to the Las Vegas Strip, and that Vegas will not be seeing any new brick and mortar casinos in a long, long time.
