Entain-owned BetCity has secured a new five-year online gambling licence from the Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, KSA), extending its accreditation through late 2031.
The renewal makes BetCity the latest original pioneer operator to receive a licence extension following the re-regulation of the Dutch online gambling market.
Other pioneer operators that have secured licences running through late 2031 include Holland Casino Online, Fair Play Online, Kansino, bet365, Bingoal, GGPoker and Toto. All original pioneer operators active when the Dutch online market was re-regulated have now received licence extensions.
BetCity representatives said the operator remained committed to maintaining a safe, responsible and regulated digital environment. Management also highlighted cooperation with the KSA, industry partners and policymakers, as well as its focus on player protection and a sustainable regulated market.
Separately, the KSA has renewed Lotto BV’s monopoly licences for another five years while legal proceedings continue before the Council of State over the legality of the monopoly system.
The regulator said the renewal was intended to ensure an uninterrupted legal supply of lottery games and land-based betting. The KSA said it would have preferred to wait for the court proceedings to conclude but decided to issue the permits to provide clarity.
The renewed licences remain subject to standard regulatory provisions and potential transition frameworks.
