The 2026 Gaming in Spain Conference will bring together regulators, operators, suppliers and other industry stakeholders in Madrid on Oct. 15, with its agenda covering regulatory developments, black-market competition, player protection, fraud prevention and new gambling products.
The conference will open with a keynote from Mikel Arana, Director General of Spain’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ).
The first block will also feature regulatory analysis from Xavi Munoz Bellvehí, Managing Partner at ECIJA Barcelona, while Justo Sancho, Director of Safe Gambling at DGOJ, Sander Hoogendoorn, Senior Consultant at Chevron Group, and Camille Gonzálvez, TMT & iGaming Lawyer at ECIJA, will discuss the implementation of cross-operator deposit limits. Patricia Lalanda, Partner at LOYRA Abogados, will address regulated gambling in Melilla.
The second block will examine the Spanish gambling market and the threat from the black market. Josh Hodgson, COO of H2 Gambling Capital, will present figures on the Spanish iGaming market, while Dmitry Belianin, Co-Founder of Blask Business Intelligence, will compare game popularity across onshore and offshore offerings. Björn Fuchs, Chair of VNLOK, will discuss efforts to counter illegal gambling advertising and Big Tech, while Mauro De Fabritiis, Founder of MDF Partners, will examine the player experience offered by crypto and regulated gambling.
Player protection will form the focus of the third block, with Pedro Romero, Chief of Safer Gambling Partnerships at BetBlocker, and Paula Murphy, Head of Commercial at Mindway AI, discussing problem gambling detection algorithms and player protection.
The fourth block will focus on iGaming regulation and licensed operators, including the industry’s perspective on sustainable gambling reform from Jorge Hinojosa, Director General of Jdigital.
Fraud prevention and anti-money laundering will feature in the fifth block. David Calvete Sarasa, Chief Inspector at Spain’s National Police, will address fraud prevention in regulated gambling, while Pedro López Martín-Andino, Managing Partner at MartínAndino Abogados, and Jochen Biewer, Managing Director at Chevron Group, will discuss the practical impact of the European Union’s new AML/CFT regulation.
The sixth block will examine new products and technology solutions for Spain. Gustaf Hagman and Jonas Delin, Co-Founders of Avanti Studios, will discuss AI-powered live casino, while Camille Gonzálvez will address emerging gambling and betting formats. Andreas Ditsche, CEO of iGaming.com, will discuss AI and affiliate marketing, and Juan Jose Llorente, Country Manager Spain & Portugal at Adyen, will cover compliant payment solutions.
A seventh block will provide an update on promising Latin American markets, with the speaker yet to be announced. A breakout session led by Mario Chamorro, Partner at MDF Partners, will examine promotions in Spain, including which operators lead, lag and what works.
Gaming in Spain founder Willem van Oort said the event brought together stakeholders from across the market, including the regulator, licensed operators, suppliers and Spain’s National Police.

All this, of course, against the backdrop of the growing threat of unprotected gambling due to unfair, unlicensed, and offshore competition. Reclaiming the market requires both cooperation and shared knowledge,” he said.
The conference will take place at Auditorio ECIJA in Madrid on Oct. 15. Registration is open.
