Betwinner was one of the bookmakers present at SBC Summit Rio, an event held between March 5 and 7 in Rio de Janeiro and attended by more than 4,000 people.

The company is among the 134 that had previously expressed their interest to the Ministry of Finance to operate in the regulated betting market. In addition, it already has a consolidated presence in the country and its ambassador is the former soccer player Roberto Carlos, a legend of the Brazilian national team and Real Madrid.

At the firm’s stand at SBC, Gustavo Hiroshi, Betwinner’s Country Manager in Brazil, talked to Yogonet about the event and the prospects for the regulatory process.

Regarding your participation in SBC Summit Rio, did Betwinner bring any specific news or do you see it more as a networking opportunity?

We always go to events like SBC, iGB, and SiGMA. It’s not that there is something different to present, but the idea of this event is more commercial, bringing traffic in-house, showing our product, and making partnerships. That’s important for us.

A topic that has generated a lot of buzz is the 12 ordinances soon to be published by the federal government. Their content is not yet known, but how is the company preparing and what is its vision of the regulatory process?

We talk to many lawyers, we have a consulting team that helps us to orient ourselves. Everything is already prepared to obtain the license. We have been in Brazil for a long time and we know the potential.

The difficult thing is to get them to understand the operator’s point of view. It has to be profitable for the operator because collecting taxes is important, but it can’t kill the industry. Here’s how strong it is.

In terms of events, what does Betwinner’s calendar look like for the rest of the year in Brazil and other countries?

SiGMA Africa is taking place next week [the interview was conducted before the event held on March 11 and 13]. Our team will be there. We have offices in Africa (more in the English-speaking part) and the biggest one is in Nigeria.

We are going to GAT in Cartagena; to SAGSE in Argentina; to SiGMA in São Paulo; and also Afiliados Brazil
