Las Vegas’ Treasure Island has ended its $200 free slot play promotion early after overwhelming demand caused long lines and chaos on the casino floor.
The promotion, which launched Monday and was originally scheduled to run through Sept. 7, was available every Monday through Wednesday to both new and existing loyalty club members.
“Due to overwhelming response, the offer reached its planned capacity earlier than anticipated,” a casino spokesperson said.
The promotion quickly gained traction after Treasure Island promoted it through emails, app notifications, and mailers. By Tuesday, the redemption line had stretched across multiple areas of the casino floor, with limited kiosk capacity slowing the process. Some guests reported waiting as long as six hours to redeem the offer, while others left without claiming the free play.
The promotion required players to wager the full $200 in a single gambling session. Its appeal was heightened by its availability to new loyalty club members, with many guests reportedly joining the casino’s rewards programme to qualify.
The early closure came after Vegas industry observers had predicted the promotion could be overwhelmed by demand. “I expect by the end of this week, it’s going to be canceled,” said Shawn Coomer, co-host of the Miles to Memories Vegas podcast. He cited the long lines and the scale of the offer as reasons for his prediction.
Treasure Island has not disclosed the number of redemptions or new loyalty club signups generated by the promotion.
Following the end of the promotion, Treasure Island officials emphasized that they plan to continue launching new, high-value promotions designed to deliver a fun, energetic, and guest-focused experience.
