Mohegan announced the promotion of Kristi Hanney to Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. In her new role, Hanney will assist in overseeing the administration and operation of Mohegan’s Legal Department, supporting strategic legal and business initiatives across Mohegan’s portfolio.

Hanney will now oversee entity management, compliance and contract negotiations company-wide. In the position, Hanney will also oversee legal operations, litigation, and finance and development initiatives, along with budgeting and administration. She will lead corporate governance efforts across Mohegan’s operations and will assist in overseeing the administration and operation of the Legal Department overall.

“Kristi has been a major part of our legal team and a trusted advisor on some of the most important transactions in Mohegan’s recent history,” said Joseph Lobe, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel.

Her leadership, expertise, and collaborative approach have been invaluable, and we’re thrilled to recognize her contributions and look forward to her continued impact now as VP, Deputy General Counsel,” said Lobe.

Hanney joined Mohegan in 2022 as Senior Corporate Counsel. She has since taken part in major transactions and initiatives, including the 2025 improvement of the company’s balance sheet, the sale of the Connecticut Sun and the restructuring of Mohegan’s digital businesses. She has also supported corporate governance, finance, compliance and international matters during her tenure.

Before joining Mohegan, Hanney owned and operated the Law Office of Kristi A. Hanney, LLC, a Connecticut-based legal practice. Earlier in her career, she was a partner at Louden Caisse Hanney, LLC and worked at several law firms in the state.

Hanney has received several professional honors, including recognition as a Connecticut Super Lawyer and the Lawyer of the Year Award. She holds a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross.
