The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved a consent agreement resulting in a fine of $10,000 to Washington Trotting Association, LLC, operator of Hollywood Casino at The Meadows in Washington County. The agreement was presented by the Board’s Office of Enforcement Counsel during the Board’s public meeting last week.

The fine was the result of an incident in which an individual on the Board’s Self-Exclusion List was permitted to gamble at slot machines and cash checks. A casino operator must refuse wagers from and deny gaming privileges to any self-excluded person, while also denying check cashing privileges, notes the PGCB.

In turn, the self-excluded individual, when caught in a gaming facility, can be charged with defiant trespass which was executed against this individual.

The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is the body tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling in the Commonwealth. The state industry encompasses 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.

The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4).
