SBC has announced the class of 2024 for the Sports Betting Hall of Fame, recognizing six individuals for their contributions to the North American sports betting industry throughout their careers. This annual tradition was initiated in 2016.

Sue Schneider, SBC’s VP of Growth and Strategy, Americas, said: “We are honored to welcome the newest inductees. Their dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the industry have not only shaped its trajectory but have left an indelible mark on the world of sports betting. I’d like to congratulate everyone on their well-deserved recognition and look forward to celebrating their enduring legacies.”

The Class of 2024 includes:

  • Staci Alonso: Former Commissioner and EVP|CMO, Nevada State Athletic Commission
  • Richie BaccelIieri: Race and Sports Industry Expert
  • Christian Genetski: President, FanDuel
  • Jay Kornegay: Vice President Race & Sports Operations, Westgate Las Vegas

Schneider also made a special acknowledgment for the late John English, who passed away on February 17. English, widely recognized as the visionary behind modern sports betting kiosks, served as the Chief Innovation Officer for Vegas’ Bet Leroy’s brand.

“This year is also a little special, as we honor the memory of John English, who passed away on February 17th, and celebrate his achievements as one of the inductees,” Schneider said. “John’s family and friends will attend the ceremony to accept the award on his behalf, and we are honored to recognize his impactful contributions.”

Induction into the Sports Betting Hall of Fame requires a comprehensive set of qualifications, including extensive industry experience and pioneering innovative products or strategies. Candidates are also evaluated based on their contributions to raising public awareness of sports betting, advocating for responsible practices, and fostering community engagement.

The Sports Betting Hall of Fame Ceremony, part of the SBC Summit North America, will be a highlight of official festivities at the Red Bull Arena on May 8, 2024. The summit itself is scheduled from May 7 to 9 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. The ceremony, slated to commence at 7:30 pm, will follow a coaches’ transport from the Meadowlands to the Red Bull Arena at 6:30 pm.

The inclusion of recent inductees further solidifies the prominence of the North American sector within SBC’s Sports Betting Hall of Fame, which has recognized 22 industry professionals from North America thus far.

Last year’s honorees included Nick Bogdanovich (Sports Book Manager/Oddsmaker, Circa Sports), Michael Gaughan (Owner, South Point Hotel Casino Spa), Trish Lewandowski (Sportsbook Manager, Caesars Digital), and David L. Rebuck (Director, NJ Department of Gaming Enforcement).
