SOFTSWISS will launch the fifth edition of its 2027 iGaming Trends Report on September 29 at SBC Summit Lisbon, in partnership with WorldGaming, formerly known as Clarion.
The 2027 edition draws on input from more than 500 industry professionals and marks the first time the report extends its scope beyond iGaming to include a cross-industry perspective, with contributions from Amazon Web Services.
According to the report, iGaming has become the fourth-largest sector over the past five years, trailing only e-commerce, sports and film in market size, growth, regulatory load and digital maturity.
The milestone edition traces that trajectory and addresses questions facing the industry going forward, including how regulated gaming can function as an economic driver, whether responsible gambling and commercial performance can operate together, how licensing and responsible gambling practices translate into competitive advantage, and where iGaming stands within the wider digital economy.
Survey scope and new chapter
The report is based on survey responses from more than 500 industry professionals and an analysis of over 480,000 media headlines tracking narrative and sentiment trends.
A new chapter, titled “Beyond iGaming,” compares the sector against e-commerce, crypto, streaming and other digital industries, supported by Tier-1 case studies covering operator growth, market expansion and performance.
“The industry’s maturation has brought both increased complexity and cross-sector influence, which prompted us to broaden analytical scope to reflect the new reality. For the 2027 iGaming Trends Report, we have nearly doubled the number of professionals surveyed and headlines analysed, and added the ‘Beyond iGaming’ chapter,” said Alexandra Kavelich, deputy CMO at SOFTSWISS.
“As a strategic partner, we aim to help businesses navigate next steps with deeper insights and adaptation paths,” she added.
Contributors and data partners
The fifth edition includes regional market analysis and trend outlooks from WorldGaming, insights from Amazon Web Services on AI adoption in compliance, fraud detection, personalization and customer support, market sizing and forecasting data from H2 Gambling Capital, and workforce data on hiring trends, retention and talent gaps from Pentasia. The report has recorded more than 32,000 downloads since it launched in 2022.
“Understanding both the global picture and the nuances of specific regions matters. We have seen cases when local leadership only bought businesses a market share. That is the perspective WorldGaming brings to the 2027 iGaming Trends Report through its ICE, iGB, and GGB platforms,” said Robin Harrison, Global Content Director B2B at WorldGaming.
SOFTSWISS will present the report at its stand, B501, during SBC Summit Lisbon 2026. On September 29, the company will host a panel discussion titled “2027 iGaming Trends Report | Five Years of iGaming: Which Trends Endured, Which Faded, and What Comes Next?” to discuss the findings.
