Sports Betting West Africa+, GEFA to hold joint summit in Dakar in October

The 11th annual Sports Betting West Africa+ (SBWA+) Summit 2026 and the 2nd annual Gaming Event Francophone Africa (GEFA) 2026 will be held concurrently for the first time in Dakar, Senegal, from October 14-16, bringing together stakeholders from across Africa’s gaming industry.

The events aim to provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and business development as regulatory reform, technological innovation and investment continue to drive growth in West Africa’s gaming sector.

The conference will bring together regulators, operators, legal experts, affiliates, suppliers, technology providers and payment specialists from both Anglophone and Francophone markets.

The programme will open on Oct. 14 with the SBWA+ Welcoming & Eventus Awards Evening, which will include networking sessions and the presentation of the SBWA+ Eventus Awards before the conference begins.

The awards recognise excellence, innovation and leadership across Africa’s gaming industry and include categories covering suppliers, operators, innovation, virtual sports, online casinos, responsible gambling, sports betting, consultants, speakers and industry influencers.

The programme also includes two awards celebrating women in gaming: Innovation Queen of West Africa and West Africa’s Rising Star in Leadership.

Nominations for the awards are open until Oct. 2, with the shortlist scheduled to be announced on Oct. 7. The winners will be revealed during the awards ceremony on Oct. 14.

The organisers invited industry professionals to submit nominations and participate in the three-day event, which will focus on industry developments, networking and business opportunities across Africa’s gaming market.
