The Launch of Louisiana Mobile Sports Betting

Industry

Today is the big day for Louisiana mobile sports betting, as six big-time operators officially go live in the state! the activity was originally legalized way back in November of 2020, but delays related to tax laws and the pandemic pushed the launch date back until now.

Residents of Louisiana will be able to chose from popular providers, such as BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings and FanDuel. Also available are the Barstool Sports and BetRivers apps. For what it’s worth, Caesars is an official sports betting partner of the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans and Louisiana State University. Plus, they operate Harrah’s New Orleans and the Horseshoe in Bossier City, two of the state’s top gambling destinations.

Louisiana mobile sports betting also builds upon Caesars’ legacy in the state, allowing their sports book to provide sports fans and those who visit the state an elevated betting experience fit for royalty right in the palm of their hands, in addition to their legendary Louisiana casino resorts.

Speaking about the launch of mobile sports betting in the state, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt stated “We’re thrilled that the BetMGM Sportsbook is one of the first mobile sports betting apps to launch in Louisiana, just in time for this weekend’s NFL playoffs.”

The President of DraftKings North America, Matt Kalish, added that “The arrival of mobile betting greatly enhances accessibility and adoption potential within the Pelican State.” His company recently opened a sports book at the Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles.
