The Next Big Residencies at Sphere Las Vegas • This Week in Gambling

Sphere Las Vegas turns three in September, and they’ve already established themselves as a major concert venue. The Eagles just extended their residency again, this time into early next year, and there are more big name artists lined up between now and Christmas. But no name is bigger than Metallica. Their life burns faster residency kicks off October 1st and runs through the middle of March 2027, featuring the fan favorite no repeat weekend format with shows having two completely different set lists. Their concerts will feature immersive graphics and spatial audio that keeps heavy metal crisp and powerful.

But before Metallica can take the stage, Carín León drops in for a 10-day stent September 4th through the 13th, after which the Eagles will return September 18th for shows running all the way to January 23rd. Also, the Backstreet Boys return for five shows over the holidays and will make a special appearance during the Formula 1 afterparty November 21st. And while that takes us into the new year, it also begs the question of what comes next.

There are some rumors about big Sphere Las Vegas residencies for 2027 with names like Pink, Tool, even Coldplay being tossed about. But before any new artists are scheduled, the Wizard of Oz show is getting a makeover. The enhanced version of the production is slated to debut within the next few weeks with a new ride experience, drone controlled flying monkeys, and fresh visuals made for the 16K display. And it’s been announced that the Rocky Horror Picture Show will also arrive at the Sphere sometime in 2027.

Finally, this week, speculation about the next big artist to appear at the Las Vegas. Back in February, we told you about the Metallica rumors, and we were right. And now we’re telling you about Pink. Vegas insiders are pointing to Pink as the front runner to land the next Sphere residency, right after Metallica wraps up in the spring of 2027. If true, she would become the venue’s first solo female headliner.

The band Tool has also been mentioned for a new residency, possibly timed with a new album. Band members have confirmed ongoing talks with the Spear, noting how the venue’s 16K screen fits their cinematic style. Less likely is Coldplay, who last performed in Vegas in June of 2025. Frontman Chris Martin has said that he prefers to wait a while before considering the venue after U2’s initial residency. So, don’t hold your breath.

And speaking of U2, what about a comeback? Well, their original contract with the Sphere Las Vegas contained an option to return for up to 2 years. So, it is possible. and 2027 will be the 40th anniversary of the band’s Joshua Tree album. Several additional artists have also been mentioned as possibilities, with some websites even listing the odds that any one of these performers will actually get a Sphere residency, including Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and the Spice Girls.

So, which of these acts would you like to see the most?
