The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the remote operating license of Targetlocal Ltd after its inquiries found anti-money laundering failings at the company.
Targetlocal trades as Ken Howell’s Sports Betting and runs the website kenhowells.com. The suspension applies to its remote operating license, number 000422-R-336567-002, which covers the online business. That business offers casino, sports betting, and virtual event betting. The suspension takes effect immediately.
The Commission is now reviewing the licence under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005. The suspension will remain in place until the regulator is satisfied that the business is compliant.
The Gambling Commission did not provide further details on the specific AML shortcomings identified in its enquiries. The Welsh bookmaker told its customers it is “working to resolve this as a matter of urgency.”
The Commission has told the operator that it is expected to treat consumers fairly while the suspension lasts. The operator must also keep customers fully informed of any developments that affect them.
The suspension does not prevent Targetlocal from letting consumers access their accounts and withdraw funds. Customers can contact the business through its website.
Targetlocal’s non-remote general betting standard license is not affected by the suspension.
