WagerWire partners with Station Casinos to launch sports betting marketplace on the STN Play app

Industry

WagerWire, a marketplace where bettors can buy and sell previously placed sports bets, has announced that bet trading functionality is now live with Red Rock Resorts on Station Casinos’ STN Play app. The STN Play iCasino offers slots and table games in addition to sports betting via Sports Plus, powered by Sparket.

With the WagerWire marketplace now integrated, bettors can buy and sell their active sports bets at any time until the conclusion of the event. In a social media post, the marketplace technology company noted that its platform is free-to-play and that STN will give 5,000 coins for sign-up.

Earlier in January, WagerWire announced that it had partnered with Sparket, billed as “the Social Betwork,” which allows users to bet on traditional sports, esports, live events, pop culture, and beyond via a community-based social platform.

This is the beginning of a new generation of sports betting offerings,” said Zach Doctor, CEO of WagerWire. “Not only will STN Play users be able to bet on anything, but they will also have the option of selling those bets after the event has started, creating the next frontier of trading, engagement, and entertainment.”

As a part of the collaboration, Doctor noted that WagerWire also received GLI33 Certifications for its system integration with Sparket and GAN, another significant milestone for the company.

According to a press release, the Sports Plus sportsbook has been a breakout success for STN following the implementation of Sparket bets this year, helping attract droves of high-value users to the platform.

Users who play Sports Plus also tend to stick around and play more games overall and wager more coin volume. The addition of WagerWire is poised to further charge this growth and attract new demographics to the STN iCasino.

Integrating WagerWire into our offering with STN Play and other clients opens a new vertical of activity once our pre-match markets have closed,” said Aaron Basch, Co-Founder of Sparket. “Now that bets can be bought or sold, live betting markets will be available to players, creating a whole new way for Station’s users to play.”

According to WagerWire, the early results of adding its marketplace functionality have been extremely positive. Over 20% of betting volume is being traded on the market, and the sportsbook’s overall volume has increased significantly.

Players that use WagerWire are said to spend more time in other parts of the app and play more iCasino games. The early results confirm the findings of an independent survey of bettors by Leger that found that 76% of bettors would spend more time inside a sportsbook’s app if bet trading were offered.

This milestone comes on the heels of WagerWire’s partnership with sportsbook platform SB22, which also partnered with Sparket earlier this year. The Red Rock Resorts partnership is the newest in a series of sportsbook rollouts by the challenger start-up, which recently also announced a partnership with Betr.
