Kalispel Casino, located in Cusick, Washington, is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Since opening its doors in April 2019, the casino has evolved into a center of entertainment and economic growth, as well as a driving force for the Kalispel Tribe’s dedication to philanthropy and engagement with the community, officials say.

From its beginnings with 120 slots, Kalispel Casino has expanded its offerings to feature 161 slots, part of an expansive gaming floor spanning nearly 5,000 square feet. With 59 gaming titles, two pool tables, and a shuffleboard table, the casino now caters to a diverse audience.

Curt Holmes, Executive Director of Kalispel Casino and Governmental Affairs, said: “Decades ago, our elders set aside this property for economic development, In the 1970’s, we opened our first business near to where the casino stands. It was called Sntumi (sin-too-me) in our Salish language meaning a ‘place where you buy.’

Kalispel Casino is a continuation of our elders’ vision for economic development and self-sufficiency here on our home reservation, and it’s become so much more than that. Now when you walk in, you see your friends and neighbors. It’s a gathering place where people come to have fun in Pend Oreille County,” Holmes was quoted as saying in an Indian Gaming report.

To mark its official anniversary on April 12, Kalispel Casino is rolling out special promotions for its Camas Rewards members, including fuel discounts and ‘anniversary hot seats.’ Later in the month, members can participate in the casino’s largest giveaway to date, the $5,000-a-day giveaway from April 22 to 26.

Beyond its role as an entertainment hub, Kalispel Casino serves as a catalyst for employment and economic growth in the region. With 64 employees hired since its inception, the casino offers competitive wages and benefits, contributing to the local economy, notes the Kalispel Tribe.

Moreover, the Kalispel Tribe’s philanthropic efforts have made a substantial impact in the region, with approximately $1 million donated to organizations in Pend Oreille and Bonner Counties, supporting various community initiatives.

The casino’s appeal draws guests from Newport, Cusick, Spokane, and neighboring cities, as well as international visitors from Canada.
