ACMA orders ISPs to block 12 more Illegal gambling sites

The ACMA has determined that these sites are operating outside of the law and have given ISPs an additional 12 illegal gambling sites to block.

In a statement, the ACMA said the following sites were targeted: 7Signs, ChromaBet, Donbet, Duospin, Freshbet, Slots Gem, Jacks Club, Lucky Start, Pointsbetz.com, Spinrise, Vinyl Casino and Wildsino.

The ACMA said the use of the name Pointsbetz.com in order to replicate a licensed operator, PointsBet, raises concerns that consumers may be confused into thinking that the illegal operation offers the same services as the licensed operator.

The most recent action taken by the ACMA brings the total number of illegal gambling and affiliate sites that the authority has blocked since November 2019 to 1,751.

Since tighter enforcement measures were put in place against illegal online gambling in 2017, the ACMA says that over 230 unlicensed gambling services have exited the Australian market.

The ACMA has warned consumers that many illegal gambling websites appear to be legitimate; however, they typically do not offer important consumer protections, so Australian consumers could potentially lose their money and have little recourse in the event of problems arising from the use of the illegal gambling site.
