Farmingdale Man Wins $1M Prize from New York Lottery Scratcher

The New York Lottery announced that a lucky player has claimed a life-changing seven-figure prize from one of the lottery’s scratchers. The lucky man visited the lottery HQ to collect his winnings, opting to go with the one-time payment.

The Man Became the Empire State’s Latest Millionaire

On June 16, the New York Lottery revealed Joseph Armenti of Farmingdale as the winner of a $1,000,000 prize on the lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off game. This is notably the second-best prize one can hope to win from this game.

The lucky ticket was sold at 261 Airport Plaza in Farmingdale, the New York Lottery added.

Lottery officials confirmed that Armenti visited the lottery HQ to scoop up his winnings. When asked to choose between the annuity option for the full sum or the one-time lump sum payment, he chose the latter. As a result, he was left with $651,010 after required withholdings.

As mentioned, this is the second-tier prize in the VIP Millions scratch-off game. At launch, the game featured a staggering 30 such prizes. As of the time of this writing, 21 of them have been paid out, leaving 9 up for the grabs.

Additionally, the game boasts a top prize of $5,000,000. At launch, there were 4 such prizes, but only 2 of them still remain unclaimed.

More New Yorkers Won Seven-Figure Prizes in June

Armenti’s $1 million payday isn’t the only big win in the USA recently. Earlier this month, a lucky player in New York secured a $4 million payout from the Mega Millions game.

At the beginning of June, a Powerball player in the Empire State took a $1 million Match 5 prize from the Powerball game.

Speaking of Mega Millions and Powerball, the two lottery games’ jackpots are currently standing at $452 million and $302 million, respectively.
