An extremely lucky player in Florida has put an end to a long period of waiting for the Mega Millions jackpot to be won. The fortunate ticket-holder won $800 million, which is one of the top 10 prizes in the history of the game.

After a few months of jackpot drought, the Mega Millions jackpot has finally landed, ensuring that one lucky player in Florida will get the payout of a lifetime. The win happened shortly after the game’s jackpot reached the mouth-watering sum of $800 million, meaning that the winner will be able to either pick the annuity for this amount of money, or the one-time lump sum of $344.2 million.
For reference, the win was scored after the player matched all winning numbers for the July 28 drawing. The winning numbers were as follows: 34, 48, 49, 59, and 70, plus the gold Mega Ball 12.
Mega Millions officials congratulated the player on the win, which is notably the third Mega Millions jackpot to be won in 2026. Both previous jackpots landed in March. The July 28 win came after 38 jackpot-free drawings and also the sixth jackpot to be won by a player in Florida, the lottery noted.
Even More Wins Happened
The Florida winner was not the only lucky player to win big on July 28. Several other participants in the game narrowly missed the game’s top prize, scoring only the five white numbers to win Match 5 prizes. One of these wins happened in New York, where a ticket-holder is now eligible to redeem a $3 million prize. The other occurred in Illinois, where a player with a 5x multiplier won $5 million.
At the same time, fifteen players won six-figure sums after matching four white numbers plus the Mega Ball. Here is a breakdown of these wins:

After the latest win, the jackpot has been reset to $50 million for the Friday drawing. The cash option of that prize is $21.5 million.
