GCI Appoints Former UKGC Executive Director Tim Miller as Strategic Adviser

Gaming Compliance International (GCI), a leader in gaming compliance, advertising, and media content monitoring, has appointed former United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) executive director Tim Miller as strategic advisor. Miller will bring an independent regulatory perspective, thanks to his GamReg Consulting, to GCI’s transaction and market monitoring products and services as the company continues its global expansion.

GCI and Tim Miller Sign a Deal

Earlier this year, Miller left the UKGC following a decade with the organization, most recently serving as its executive director of policy and research. However, this paved the way for him to found GamReg Consulting, a consultancy focused on gaming regulation. GCI will be among Miller’s first clients through the new venture, with Miller working directly with GCI CEO Matt Holt and his team to provide insight from his experience as a former regulator

In his new role at GCI, Miller will support the company’s international expansion. He will help ensure its solutions continue to address the evolving needs of gaming regulators, and bring a regulatory perspective to product development. Additionally, he will provide regulatory policy and strategic insight to strengthen the guidance GCI delivers to its regulatory clients as they work to meet their communities’ needs.

GCI CEO Matt Holt said the company is thrilled to have Miller play a critical role in shaping GCI’s future. Holt explained that as GCI works to become the go-to provider of market intelligence for gaming regulators worldwide, the company views the addition of Miller’s expertise and reputation as a clear demonstration of its understanding of the challenges regulators face. Miller’s involvement will help GCI continue developing tools and services designed to better equip regulators to address those challenges, Holt said.

Meanwhile, Miller said that partnering with GCI, as the company provides regulators with the market intelligence tools they need, is a natural fit as he launches GamReg Consulting. Drawing on his firsthand experience, he said he understands that the tools and capabilities regulators rely on to protect their citizens are continually evolving. In his role with GCI, Miller will help ensure the company and its clients remain ahead of those changes and are equipped to optimize their markets effectively.

However, despite the partnership with GCI, Miller seems to be putting a healthy dose of independence from it in his work. Talking about his company in an earlier interview for NEXT.io, Miller said that now that he’s struck out on his own, he “doesn’t want to lose” his independent voice through the clients he works for. He explained that his ideal customers are companies that support gambling regulators and governments.

Miller and Holt will both join the panel “New Tools for a New Age – Helping Regulators Understand Market Dynamics and Stop Illegal Gambling” at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas. The session is scheduled for September 30 at 2:00 pm PT in Titian 2305 at The Venetian Expo.

Speaking of G2E, rapper 50 Cent will reveal a new casino game called 50 Cent Headcrack at the event next week.
