Habanero Readies for Ghana Debut with Betway

Latest News

Habanero, the developer of highly innovative online slots and table games, has strengthened its position in Africa thanks to a partnership with a top-tier online casino brand.

The studio announced Wednesday that it has inked a content supply deal with Betway, the major international online gambling operator that is owned by Super Group.

Under the terms of this new deal, Habanero’s suite of titles will soon become available to Betway’s players in Ghana via the Betway Africa operation. The agreement between the games maker and the operator covers the former’s hit titles Wild Trucks, Hot Hot Fruit, and Egyptian Dreams, among others. They will all soon become available in Ghana’s iGaming market.

Betway Africa is Betway’s Africa-facing gaming and sports betting brand. The operation is available across multiple regulated African markets, including Uganda, South Africa, and Kenya.

Habanero said that entering the Ghanaian digital gambling market with Betway marks a significant milestone for the studio in its expansion in the region. Ghana’s online gaming space is second only to Nigeria in West Africa in terms of annual revenue and number of players. The market first opened in 2006.

The iGaming studio further noted that its partnership with Betway Africa will prove to be a decisive move forward in its continued growth across the continent and its regulated landscape.

A Truly Promising Area

Of their latest important announcement, Habanero Head of Business Development Arcangelo Lonoce said that this new partnership is crucial to their penetration in Africa’s regulated space and that they see the continent’s highly dynamic market “as a truly promising area for Habanero to continue to grow in.”

Mr. Lonoce went on to note that now as they are live in Ghana, they cannot wait to start rolling out their games to more and more players than ever before.

Kwabena Oppong-Nkrumah, Head of Marketing at Betway Ghana, said that Betway has always seen Africa as a distinctive market and one where the operator can grow exponentially, and that thanks to their new deal with Habanero, they can now strengthen their leading position with the studio’s “hugely exciting titles.”

Habanero this week celebrated another important milestone as it strengthened its existing partnership with Spanish gambling powerhouse Codere to launch its content with the operator in Spain’s regulated iGaming market. The studio debuted its games in the country earlier this year after obtaining the necessary certification in the spring of 2020.

It was also not long ago when Habanero unveiled a partnership with online gambling operator 7bet to expand its exposure in Lithuania and the Baltic region.
