A longtime North Las Vegas casino is scheduled to reopen to guests after a major makeover that has changed its look and layout. After months of construction and redesign, the former Poker Palace will soon reopen under a new name, Club Fortune North.
Truckee Gaming Completes Major Overhaul Ahead of Club Fortune North Launch
The property, which opened in the mid-1970s, has been closed since late 2025 after Reno-based operator Truckee Gaming purchased it for $20 million. What started as a renovation project quickly snowballed into a much larger project, as crews discovered aging infrastructure and decades of piecemeal additions that required a deeper rebuild, as reported by The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The reopening will occur in two phases, with a tentative opening set for July 19 and a full opening on July 22. The scope of work was much more than the company anticipated, officials said, and the project turned out to be nearly a total rebuild rather than an upgrade.
The new and improved casino will have a modern gaming floor with state-of-the-art slot machines and new digital systems. The plans also include a refreshed bar area, expanded dining areas, and a larger kitchen to deal with the increased demand. Additionally, both the interior and exterior of the building have been completely redesigned, and essential amenities like restrooms have been updated to current standards.
Former Poker Palace Embraces New Identity While Preserving Local Appeal
Notwithstanding its new look, the property will operate under a different gaming mix than it has in the past. There will be no traditional table games or poker. Instead, it will focus on slot play, supported by a race and sportsbook run by Boomer’s Sportsbook.
In the past, the casino has made its name as a neighborhood-oriented venue, not a tourist destination. Situated out of the way from the Las Vegas Strip corridor, its main customer base was local residents, with cheap gaming and casual dining. That identity is supposed to stay even as the surroundings change.
The goal, company representatives said, is to keep the friendly vibe that regular customers liked, but in a cleaner, more modern space. The redesign aims to strike a balance between the old and the new, attracting returning visitors and new customers in the area.
Truckee Gaming, which has several properties throughout Nevada, views the project as a strategic play into the North Las Vegas market. With a heavy investment in the upgrade, the company hopes to bolster its presence in a segment that continues to draw more on local demand than trends in tourism.
