Man Wins $1M from the Lottery, Plans to Give Mom Retirement

Lottery players and lottery winners, for that matter, have different motivations and plans for what to do with their money. Some take a trip to Hawaii, and others take the kids to Disney World, on top of investing and setting up college funds, of course.

This Lottery Winner Has One Clear Goal – Helping His Mom Retire

Yet, one player from Massachusetts, who scooped a $1,000,000 prize, has a slightly different plan, and he is planning to give his mom the retirement she deserves.

Identified as George Zakhary of Bellingham, the man was able to scoop the seven-figure payout from the $4,000,000 Bonus Bucks scratch ticket game, and opted for the lump sum payout when he appeared to claim his prize at lottery headquarters last Thursday.

The ticket was bought at Hotshot at 60 South St. in Wrentham, with the shop securing a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket as well. This is the largest jackpot to have ever been won in Wrentham, the lottery confirmed in a press release.

As a result, he has claimed $650,000 before taxes and will be putting the money towards helping his mother finally retire from work.

Seven-figure wins have inspired other lottery winners to also think more closely about their retirement, or significantly boost their standard of living in their retirement years.

This is the case of an Illinois woman who also decided to help her retirement funds after she won $1,000,000 off a $50 scratch ticket.

Having retired a year prior, the woman was happy with the lottery payout as it had come at a great time, allowing her to enjoy her golden years to their fullest.
