The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has led another operation into illegal gambling, resulting in the bust of a clandestine venue that was operating as a Brandeton storefront.
This is the latest bust against an illegal gambling den in Florida, as police and the state’s gambling regulator step up efforts.
Ultimately, officers were able to detect, stake out, and raid the venue, resulting in the seizure of $23,000 in cash and 34 gambling machines, along with 89 computers with various gambling software programs, law enforcement reported.
The search warrant was executed on July 17, 2026, at the 4300 block of 26th Street West. Police officers conducted a week-long investigation into the venue, with one suspect, Keylin Reyes Escobar, 21, arrested as per local media reports.
The woman has been charged with obstruction and being an agent or an employee of a house for gambling, as per the official police statement. Escobar initially tried to flee the scene through a back door, but she was taken into custody not long after.
This is not the first time local police has acted against illegal gambling.
In mid-May, the sheriff’s office led an operation against another gambling business, resulting in the seizure of 265 illegal gambling machines and more than $120,000 in cash, part of an operation executed in collaboration with the Florida Gaming Control Commission.
