Massachusetts Woman Secures $1M Payout from Instant Ticket Game

Yet another lucky player in Massachusetts has won big from the state lottery. This time, the winner was a Shirley resident who scooped up a seven-figure prize from an instant ticket.

Shirley Woman Wins $1M

The winner was revealed to be Mary Dickhaut of Shirley. Dickhaut had purchased a 100X instant game ticket, only to soon find herself as the state’s newest millionaire. As it turned out, this was the first $1 million prize won from the game.

Dickhaut claimed her winnings on July 7, opting to go for the one-time lump sum payment rather than the annuity. As a result, she took home $650,000 before taxes. In an interview with lottery officials, the very lucky woman said that she plans to use this money to “have some fun.”

The Massachusetts Lottery noted that the lucky ticket was sold at M&M Convenience, a store located at 1 Front St. in Shirley. Dickhaut isn’t the only winner, as the store will receive a $10,000 incentive bonus for the sale of the winning ticket.

For context, the 100X game launched on June 9 and is one of the latest additions to the Massachusetts Lottery’s roster of instant ticket games. The $10 game features three top prizes of $4 million, none of which has been won yet. At launch, the game also featured nine second-tier prizes of $1 million. As mentioned, one of these has been won so far.

The Massachusetts Lottery lists the chances of winning a $4 million prize at 1 in 4,704,000, and the chances of winning a $1 million prize at 1 in 1,568,000.

The Lottery Mints Even More Winners

Dickhaut isn’t the only big winner recently, as a lucky resident just won a $500,000 prize from the Massachusetts Lottery. That prize came from the $500,000 Frenzy game and, as the game’s title suggests, is the top prize one can hope to win.

Several days ago, a fortunate man from the Bay State claimed a mouth-watering $4 million top prize from one of the lottery’s scratch-off tickets – $4,000,000 In The Money. After choosing to go with the one-time payment, he took home $2.6 million before taxes.

This win came shortly after Cumberland Farms convenience stores sold two $1 million-winning lottery tickets at roughly the same time. One of these prizes landed in a Cumberland Farms store in East Templeton, while the other landed in a Cumberland Farms gas station in Blackstone.
