The Mega Millions jackpot is steadily creeping up toward the $300 million mark after another drawing without a top prize winner. The Friday drawing was one of the quieter ones, with no Match 5 prizes and only a few tier-three ones.
The Top Win for the Drawing Was a $50K Payout
As players bought Mega Millions tickets and prepared for the Friday drawing, they hoped on hitting the $244 million jackpot ($103.5 million cash value) and turning their lives around. Unfortunately, such a win did not materialize, allowing the top prize to continue increasing.
For reference, winning the nine-figure sum required players to correctly match all six winning numbers. The winning numbers for the September 18 drawing were 4, 9, 24, 56, and 68, plus the gold Mega Ball 1.
The winning combination was not an easy one, as it turns out, since the Friday drawing crowned no Match 5 winners either. In terms of tier-three prizes, on the other hand, there were two. One of these prizes saw a player scoop up $20,000 (2x multiplier), while the other one had another player take home $50,000 (5x multiplier).
In the meantime, the Mega Millions jackpot has now reached $261 million with a cash option of $110.5 million. The next drawing is set to take place on September 22 (Tuesday), at 11 pm ET.
Mega Millions Continues to Award Six and Seven-Figure Prizes
In other news, the previous Mega Millions drawing awarded a $100,000 prize to one lucky player. This wasn’t the only such win to happen recently, as the September 8 drawing awarded eight tier-three prizes, including a $100,000 one.
On August 28, on the other hand, the Mega Millions game awarded not one, but two Match 5 prizes of $3 million. These were won by players in the states of Missouri and Tennessee. In addition to that, the same drawing granted a $100,000 tier-three prize to one lucky player.
At the same time, the Powerball jackpot just hit $313 million after that game’s Saturday drawing also concluded without jackpot winners. However, the same drawing did end up awarding a Match 5 prize of $1 million to a very lucky ticket holder in New York.
In other Mega Millions-related news, a winner of a $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot just dropped a lawsuit against his former partner. The lawsuit concerned the winner’s anonymity, which his former partner reportedly violated by telling her loved ones about the win.
