Mega Millions Jackpot Nears Half a Billion Dollars After Remaining Unclaimed

The Mega Millions jackpot has continued to elude players, but with only 2 jackpots won in 2026, fans are eagerly anticipating the third windfall for the year. While the Friday drawing didn’t award any seven-figure sums either, a few players scooped up smaller prizes.

The Top Prize Could Soon Reach Half a Billion Dollars

The latest Mega Millions drawing had the jackpot at $413 million with a one-time lump sum option of $182.6 million. In order to win this mouth-watering prize, players had to correctly match the five white numbers and the gold Mega Ball. However, this turned out to be easier said than done.

For context, the winning numbers for the June 12 drawing were 9, 17, 24, 39, and 51, plus the gold Mega Ball 3.

In addition to no one winning the jackpot, no one managed to nail the five white numbers either, meaning that the drawing went without a winner of a seven-figure Match 5 prize. Still, several players managed to guess four white numbers plus the Mega Ball to win five-figure prizes.

These included:

  • Five winners of prizes of $20,000 (2x multiplier)
  • Two winners of prizes of $30,000 (3x multiplier)
  • One winner of a prize of $50,000 (5x multiplier)

As a result of remaining unclaimed, the Mega Millions jackpot has now reached $430 million with a cash option of $191.2 million. It has yet to be seen whether the game’s top prize will be able to surpass the half-a-billion mark.

The next drawing is set to take place this Tuesday at 11 pm ET.

Mega Million Continues to Award Big Prizes

As mentioned, the Mega Millions jackpot has been won twice in 2026, so far. The two wins happened in March, when an Illinois player won and later claimed a $536 million jackpot. The second win happened two drawings later when a player in Ohio won a $60 million jackpot on St. Patrick’s Day. The money was eventually claimed by the Happy Trails Trust.

More recently, a lucky player in New York won a $4 million Match 5 prize from the game. This happened shortly after a player in Iowa won $2 million from Mega Millions.
