The latest Mega Millions drawing has once again seen players miss the jackpot since no one managed to nail the six winning numbers required for a jackpot win. The Tuesday drawing had no Match 5 winners either, with the top prize for the drawing being a $40,000 payout.
The Top Prize for the Tuesday Drawing Was $40,000
Yesterday’s Mega Million drawing had players competing for a top prize of $160 million with a cash option of $68.9 million. While such a payout would be a dream-come-true for virtually any player, no one was lucky enough to match all six numbers required to materialize such a windfall.
Speaking of winning numbers, the white numbers drawn on Tuesday, September 1, were 1, 22, 51, 61, and 63. The gold Mega Ball, on the other hand, was 17.
In addition to no one winning the $160 million jackpot, players were ultimately unable to score a Match 5 prize of between $2 and $10 million either, since no one managed to match all five white numbers.
At the same time, a few players managed to correctly guess four white numbers and the gold Mega Ball, making them eligible to redeem tier-three prizes. The top such prize was a $40,000 payout. Here’s a detailed breakdown of these wins:

Players Will Get Another Shot at the Jackpot Very Soon
While $40,000 is nothing to sneeze at, it’s still a far cry from the nine-figure jackpot. Still, players should rest easy as the Friday drawing will provide them with another shot at claiming the top prize. The drawing is set to take place on September 4 at 11 pm ET.
Since the latest drawing did not crown a winner, the prize has reached $177 million for the Friday drawing. A hypothetical winner would be allowed to choose between the annuitized option for the full sum or the one-time lump sum payment of $76.3 million.
In other news, the previous Mega Million drawings crowned several big winners. The August 28 drawing, for example, saw two ticket holders win $3 million each after matching the five white numbers with 3x multiplier tickets. The winning tickets were sold in Missouri and Tennessee, lottery officials said.
The drawing on August 25, on the other hand, saw a player in New Mexico match all five winning numbers with a 2x ticket. The lucky ticket holder was therefore able redeem a $2 million prize.
