The Mega Millions prize has reached almost $400 million after no one won the jackpot last Friday. This week, players will get two more shots at the game’s top prize as fans continue to eagerly await the third Mega Millions jackpot for 2026.
Iowa Player Wins $2M
The most recent Mega Millions drawing took place last Friday, offering US lottery enthusiasts a shot at a $368 million prize. A hypothetical winner would have been allowed to choose between an annuity option for the full prize, or a one-time lump sum option of $163.6 million.
In order to win the coveted jackpot, players had to correctly guess the five white numbers and the Mega Ball. For reference, the winning Mega Millions numbers drawn on June 5 were 13, 30, 50, 52, and 66, plus the gold Mega Ball 2.
While Americans failed to correctly guess the entire winning combination, some players came close after matching either the five white numbers or four white numbers and the Mega Ball.
The June 5 drawing saw a single player in Iowa do the former, securing themselves a Match 5 prize of $2 million. There were also those who matched four white numbers and the Mega Ball, with four of them winning prizes of $20,000 each. Two others took $30,000 on a 3x multiplier, while a single lucky player secured a $100,000 payout due to their 10x multiplier.
Since the jackpot remained unclaimed, it has now reached $392 million with a cash option of $173.3 million. The next drawing is set to take place tomorrow, June 9, at 11 pm ET.
The Third Jackpot for 2026 Has Yet to Land
While Powerball has awarded five jackpots in 2026, only two Mega Millions top prizes have found their way to the players so far. Both of these wins happened in March, with the first one getting scooped up by a lucky player in Illinois and the second going to a player in Ohio who won $60 million.
More recently, a fortunate player in Florida won a $4 million Match 5 prize.
