The Tuesday Mega Millions drawing was business as usual, without many big prizes worth highlighting. The drawing comes shortly after the $800 million jackpot was won, so a temporary lull is entirely expected.
Two Players Won Five-Figure Sums
The Mega Millions drawing that took place on August 4 saw players compete for a top prize of $60 million with a cash value of $25.5 million. The winning numbers for that drawing were 14, 21, 51, 55, and 65, plus the gold Mega Ball 21.
The winning combination proved rather difficult for players to nail, resulting in a drawing that had no jackpot or Match 5 prizes. For reference, matching five white numbers can lead to windfalls of between $2 million and $10 million.
While no one was that lucky, two players succeeded in matching four white numbers plus the Mega Ball, earning them third-tier prizes. One of these won $20,000 on a 2x multiplier, while the other scooped up $30,000 on a 3x multiplier.
Since the jackpot remained unclaimed, it has continued to grow, reaching $70 million for the next drawing. A hypothetical winner would be able to either pick the annuitized option for the full sum or the one-time lump sum option of $29.7 million.
The next drawing will take place on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11 pm ET.
The Mega Millions Jackpot Was Won by a Floridian
As mentioned, the Mega Millions jackpot was won recently, resulting in a spectacular and life-changing win for a lucky player in Florida. This happened on July 28 when the fortunate Floridian matched all winning numbers to secure the incredible payout. This was notably the third Mega Millions jackpot for 2026.
That same drawing also awarded two Match 5 prizes, as well as numerous third-tier prizes.
The drawing following the jackpot win was a slower one, resulting in a few third-tier prizes of $20,000.
