Michigan Man Turns $20 Win into a $2M Lottery Payout

A 45-year-old man from Michigan is apparently a gambling man because, moments after he won $20 from two lottery tickets, he decided to try his luck again – and that was key.

Michigan Man Takes Second Largest Prize – $2,000,000

The upshot? The anonymous winner bought a $2 Bonus Scratch Multiplier ticket, using the earlier winnings, only to fetch a $2,000,000 payout, the second-largest ticket in the game.

The purchase occurred at Clyde Park Fuel at 2354 Clyde Park Avenue Southwest in Grand Rapids. Commenting on the win, the man shared the moments that led to his win and how he recycled his lottery winnings, feeling that better things were coming.

“Every once in a while, I’ll buy a $2 ticket, but I typically don’t play the $20 games. While my gas was pumping, I won $20, so I went back inside to cash it. I debated using my winnings on two $10 tickets, but the $2,000,000 Bonus Scratch Multiplier ticket caught my eye, so that’s what I went with,” he told the lottery upon collecting his prize, opting for the lump-sum payment of $1.3 million

Persistent Lottery Players Seem to Win

This story rings familiar. Just earlier this month, another man bought several tickets, with the third one proving to be a success, ending up with a $1,000,000 lottery win in the process.

The man also opted for the lump sum and scooped $693,000. The winner was also in his 40s, and he had bought the ticket at Main Street Convenience Inc, 402 S. Main St. in Ann Arbor, and tried two tickets – to no avail – before flipping the third one into a seven-figure winner.
