Mitch Raposo’s Ambition Shows in Fight Against Nascimento
Mitch Raposi is a fairly new fighter and his track record is somewhat mixed. He lost two out of his five fights, riding a back-to-back loss before winning against A. Maksum (15-3-0), which was a fantastic feat and immediately put Raposo’s trajectory in an upswing again.
Raposo is in a unique position now, facing off Nascimento, perhaps the most experienced fighter he has taken on.
Nascimento has a 22-6-0 track record, making him definitely a worthwhile fighter. He last lost five fights ago, and he won four after that, defeating J. Hadley, C. Hernandez, J. Filho, and C. Durden most recently.
The core difference between the two contenders for Saturday is that Nascimento has usually made a much quicker job of disposing of his opponents – winning earlier into the fights whereas Raposo has demonstrated that he can go the distance, even in those fights that he lost by Unanimous Decision, which adds another interesting twist to this.
But the question remains – at (+140) can he really upset the oddsmakers’ expectations and secure a win? An outright submission or TKO/KO is unlikely in the case of these two fighters, and given their weight class, but scoring will matter a great deal.
Raposo will have to lock down Nascimento and not allow him to try for submission, with the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu having been known to lock the occasional opponent into tapping out.
For his part, Nascimento will not seek to submit Raposo outright, but he definitely won’t miss out the opportunity to try if he could get a chance either. So this is where we are. At odds of (-160) Nascimento looks like the prime candidate to win and this is backed by most of his recent form.
The bookmakers are also confident that the fight will go the distance here (-155). The best wager here might be Nascimento to win by points (+170), which is an available market and one you can tap into right now.
Pick: Nascimento to Win by Points (+170)
