Shortly after a lucky player in New Jersey won a million-dollar prize from Powerball, another win of the same caliber happened in Virginia. At the same time, the game’s jackpot remains unclaimed and is currently standing at half a billion dollars.
The Jackpot Survived Another Drawing
The Monday Powerball drawing had players race for a top prize of $480 million with a cash option of $213.2 million. The winning numbers drawn, however, did not match any existing ticket, resulting in another drawing without a jackpot winner.
For reference, the winning white numbers drawn yesterday were 5, 25, 36, 40, and 48. The red Powerball was 3 and the Power Play multiplier was 2x.
While no one matched all numbers, several ticket holders matched five of them. One player in Virginia, for example, matched all five white numbers to secure a Match 5 prize of $1 million.
At the same time, two players matched four white numbers plus the red Powerball, and had the Power Play feature active, which netted them $100,000 each. Ten others matched the same numbers, but did not have Power Play active and will therefore take home $50,000 each.
After the jackpot survived another drawing, it has now reached $498 million with a cash option of $221 million. The next drawing is set to take place tomorrow.
More Players Won Seven-Figure Sums with Powerball
As mentioned, the Saturday Powerball drawing awarded another seven-figure prize, as a lucky player in New Jersey matched the five white numbers for that drawing to win a Match 5 prize of $1 million.
Last Wednesday’s drawing, on the other hand, saw a lucky player in Texas win a Match 5 prize of $1 million. That drawing’s Power Play multiplier was 4x, resulting in four prizes of $200,000, too.
The Powerball jackpot has been won five times this year. As the jackpot reaches new heights, fans are eagerly anticipating the next big windfall.
