The Saturday Powerball drawing has been one of the most eventful ones in recent history as it created not one but six new millionaires. However, the drawing did not award the jackpot, allowing it to continue growing.
Six Players Win $1M Each
The most recent Powerball drawing saw players compete for a $613 million jackpot. With a one-time lump sum option of $268.4 million, the prize teased players with a life-changing windfall. While such a windfall did not happen, multiple players won seven-figure prizes.
For context, the winning Powerball numbers drawn on July 25 were 3, 4, 24, 36, and 47. The Powerball was 17 and the Power Play multiplier was 4x.
As mentioned, the drawing saw some six people match the five white numbers to win prizes of $1 million. These happened in six different states, including Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Washington. However, none of these lucky winners had the Power Play feature active.
The Power Play multiplier of 4x, however, did end up delivering seven prizes of $200,000 to players who matched four white numbers and the Powerball. Some twenty-five others matched the same numbers, but only got $50,000 each since none of them had Power Play active.
Powerball Jackpot Reaches $633M
In the meantime, the Powerball jackpot has now reached $633 million with a cash option of $277.3 million. The next drawing is set to take place later today, providing players in America and the UK with another shot at the top prize.
Speaking of which, the UK just joined Powerball, allowing Brits to play for the same jackpot. This is the first time players there will get to play for an uncapped jackpot, providing them with a new way to experience lottery gaming.
While National Lottery operator Allwyn was convinced that the game would be a hit, only time will tell whether Brits will enjoy America’s favorite lottery game as much as their overseas peers.
