Powerball Jackpot Hits $225M, California Player Wins Match 5 Prize

The Powerball jackpot has remained unclaimed after no one managed to match all six numbers for the Saturday drawing. One player in California came close and will therefore take a Match 5 prize home. In the meantime, the jackpot has reached $225 million for tonight’s drawing.

California Player Won Big

The Saturday drawing saw the jackpot surpass the $200 million mark, with players competing for a $213 million prize with a cash option of $95 million. The six winning numbers drawn on June 6 were 16, 32, 55, 59, and 64, plus the red Powerball 3. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.

While matching all six winning numbers would have resulted in an incredible nine-figure payout, the closest someone came to doing that was a player in California who matched the five winning numbers except the Powerball. As a result, the lucky ticket-holder is now eligible to receive a Match 5 prize.

While Match 5 prizes are usually $1 million, or $2 million in case the Power Play feature is active, the player’s winnings will likely show a different figure due to California’s special lottery rules.

In the meantime, thirteen players won various prizes after matching four white numbers plus the Powerball. Eight of them will take home $50,000 each, while the remaining five will take home $150,000 each instead, thanks to Power Play and the 3x multiplier.

In the meantime, the Powerball top prize has reached $225 million with a cash option of $100.3 million for today’s drawing. The drawing is set to take place within a few hours of this writing.

Players Are Eagerly Awaiting the Sixth Powerball Jackpot for 2026

Last week, a player in New York won $1 million from the June 1 drawing. In addition to that, three players who secured prizes of $50,000 each from the same drawing after matching four white numbers and the Powerball. A different player did the same, but won $150,000 instead, thanks to the Power Play feature and the 3x multiplier.

Powerball has awarded five jackpots in 2026. The most recent ones came at the end of April and the beginning of May, when two back-to-back jackpot wins happened. This was notably the first time in several years that two consecutive drawings have awarded jackpot prizes.
