The Powerball game has failed to repeat the recent success of Mega Millions, with the former’s jackpot remaining unclaimed for yet another drawing. However, the Wednesday drawing was not entirely uneventful since a lucky player in Maryland managed to scoop up a $1 million Match 5 prize.
Powerball Player in Maryland Wins a Match 5 Prize
Yesterday’s Powerball drawing had players competing for a $668 million jackpot. While a hypothetical winner would have been presented with a choice between the annuitized option or a life-changing one-time payout of $292.5 million, such a win failed to materialize. However, a lucky player in Maryland came close to winning the jackpot after matching all numbers except the Powerball.
Speaking of numbers, the winning combination drawn on July 29, 2026, was 30, 36, 40, 42, and 57, plus the red Powerball 2. At the same time, the Power Play multiplier was 2x.
As mentioned, one player in Maryland managed to nail all numbers except the Powerball, netting them a payout of $1 million. In addition to that, twenty-one players matched four white numbers plus the Powerball to win the game’s third-tier prize. Sixteen of those won $50,000 each, while the remaining five secured payouts of $100,000 thanks to the Power Play feature.
The Jackpot Has Now Reached $668M
As a result of surviving yet another drawing, the Powerball jackpot has now reached $668 million with a cash option of $292.5 million. The next drawing is set to take place this Saturday.
While the Mega Millions jackpot’s chances of reaching $1 billion were snuffed out by an incredibly lucky player in Florida, Powerball still has a shot at reaching such a prize, depending on how the next drawings unfold.
In other news, Powerball recently launched in the UK, providing local players with an uncapped jackpot game. The launch came as part of Allwyn’s lottery modernization efforts. While Powerball tickets in the UK will be more expensive, Brits now have equal chances of landing the same prizes as their American peers.
