A North Carolina lottery player is now $100,000 richer after he decided to stop by a Charlotte Harris Teeter and try his luck on a quick scratch-off ticket.
Apparently, the gamble has paid off, as the player walked away front he property with the six-figure jackpot. The ticket itself cost only $30 and has been one of the best decisions Antonio Mancino of Concord made.
The player tried the $100,000 Cash Payday game, which has some long odds of hitting the six-figure jackpot – 1 in 76,752. The winnings were claimed on Tuesday, June 2, with the player opting for the after-tax lump sum option and receiving $72,018 in one go.
As to what he would be doing with his money next, Mancino did not share any immediate plans, as he apparently needs some time to mull it over. His story is not the only time a North Carolina resident has won from the local lottery.
In fact, another woman was able to win from the $30 Cash Payday game last month. Ruth O’Neal Allen of Cary bought her ticket at the Trinity Park Family Fare on West Main Street in Durham and also opted for the lump sum payment.
Allen also opted for the lump-sum option, claiming the $72,018 fixed sum rather than waiting on installments.
The North Carolina Education Lottery has been running a number of similar games, offering $100,000 as its top prize. Another popular local option among lottery players is Cash 5.
