Rank Group Posts Strong Q1 Results, Despite UK Headwinds

The Rank Group, a UK-based gambling company, just published its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year (the three-month period ended September 30, 2026), reporting a stable increase in revenue. The company was pleased with the strong performance, which comes amid somewhat troubled time for UK-facing companies.

The Company Remained Strong Despite the Difficulties

In its report, the group noted that its net gaming revenue increased by 5%, reaching GBP 216.1 million ($286.6 million).

Taking a look at how its various segments performed, Rank Group highlighted a 6% increase in Digital net gaming revenue to GBP 64.9 million ($86.1 million). The company attributed the digital growth to strong performance in the UK. On an international basis, Digital NGR grew 4%.

In terms of land-based operations, Grosvenor venues also experienced a 6% growth in net gaming revenue to GBP 108.1 million ($143.4 million). Enracha venues, on the other hand, reported GBP 10.9 million ($14.5 million) in revenue, up 7% year-on-year. The group said that these results demonstrate its resilience in spite of the higher taxes introduced in April 2026.

The growth was somewhat offset by Mecca venues, which enjoyed a stable performance without any growth or decline. That segment reported NGR of GBP 32.2 million ($42.7 million) for Q1 – a softness that the company attributed to the hot weather in the UK.

At a product level, Rank Group reported a 14% increase in Grosvenor gaming machine revenue, which underlined the group’s confidence in further investing in this vertical. Table gaming revenue, on the other, hand grew 3%, while electronic gaming experienced a 5% increase.

While the flagship Grosvenor brand continued to be the top performer, the company had to close three venues in Swansea, Reading Central and Sunderland due to the fact that they were no longer economically viable in the medium term.

The group added that it remains confident in its capability to deliver operating profit that aligns with market expectations for the current fiscal year.

Rank Group Remains Wary of the Next Budget

Richard Harris, The Rank Group’s chief executive officer, commented on the performance, saying that he is pleased with the revenue growth for Q1, especially the gaming machine performance in Grosvenor. He added that he was glad that the group remains resilient despite the UK headwinds.

Harris added that the industry continues to await the upcoming budget with bated breath, hoping that no further gaming duties will be introduced.

Speculation regarding the upcoming Budget continues to weigh heavily on investor sentiment, but our message has been clear: any increase to Machine Games Duty will increase costs, reduce venue viability, lead to venue closures and job losses, reduce tax receipts and halt investment.

Harris added that he believes that, with the right conditions, the group’s properties can play an important role in the Government’s growth agenda.
