Brothers Jackson James Dubois, 22, of Fargo, and Delton Robledo Dubois, 20, of West Fargo, North Dakota, are charged with helping to orchestrate an armed robbery of a private poker game last month, holding six men at gunpoint.
Dubois Brothers Accused of Robbing Poker Players
The two young men were each charged in Cass County District Court with robbery involving a firearm, dangerous weapon, or destructive device, a Class B felony. Both were arrested August 31 and remain on the Cass County Jail roster. According to police, three men wearing dark clothing and ski masks entered a building on Northern Pacific Avenue on August 28 during an invite-only poker game and held six men at gunpoint.
One victim told police that a gun was pressed against the back of his head. The group was ordered to the ground and robbed of their wallets, cellphones, and cash from the poker table, with the total loss estimated at $2,500.
However, it was not long before the authorities were on the suspect’s trail. Investigators identified a suspect vehicle: a black pickup with distinctive chrome trim. The truck was linked to Delton Dubois. Furthermore, two stolen cellphones were recovered near an address connected to Jackson Dubois’ ex-girlfriend.
During an interview, Delton denied being at the poker game that night but was able to describe details about how someone could gain entry, according to the charging document. Jackson told investigators he spent the evening on FaceTime with his girlfriend.
A search of the truck uncovered ski masks, dark clothing, gloves, an empty trash bag, and a bank deposit receipt, according to the document. Investigators also found three ammunition magazines in a safe during a search of Delton’s apartment.
Witnesses told investigators they suspected a former card dealer at the game may have been involved after he was fired for being intoxicated on the job. Witnesses also said the man had previously brought others, including Jackson Dubois, to the game.
Cellphone location data reportedly placed Jackson near the scene at the time of the robbery. Investigators also found text messages between Jackson and the former dealer discussing “making money” in the days before the robbery, as well as additional messages they said appeared to discuss the robbery plan.
A third, unidentified man interviewed by investigators acknowledged knowing about the alleged robbery plot but told them he got “cold feet” and did not enter the building. However, he has not been charged in the case.
