A 33-year-old woman from Las Vegas allegedly said “yes” to more than a dozen men during official wedding ceremonies as part of a crazy plan to fuel her gambling habits.
At the end of what sounds like a Hollywood movie scenario, the woman, eventually caught by authorities, pleaded guilty. Prosecutors claim she married 14 men in total to get her hands on over $300,000 that she used on her hobby.
According to authorities, J.C. admitted to one count of bigamy and one separate count of obtaining money under false pretenses, with the amount exceeding $100,000.
She will receive her official sentencing on August 20, 2026.
Investigators say C. met men through social media and didn’t waste any time before asking them to marry her. After each wedding, the woman would allegedly ask for large sums of money, on claims that she needed financial help for a sick relative in China.
Once she received the money, prosecutors say she cut off contact with her new husbands.
Police said some victims later sought annulments, while others discovered they were still legally married to Chen.
C. obtained 14 marriage certificates in Clark County between 2019 and 2025, say authorities. The list includes seven such certificates issued after her initial 2024 arrest while she was using the alias “Vicky Liang”.
She Lost Over $300,000 on Gambling
Investigators also said casino records showed C. lost more than $300,000 gambling at the Wynn Las Vegas over the past year, leading them to conclude the money was used for gambling rather than helping family overseas.
One victim told police he gave the woman $23,000 shortly after their wedding for what she claimed was a family medical emergency. Another said he handed over $30,000 after the pair discussed saving for a house before she disappeared.
Prosecutors said the plea agreement allows victims to seek restitution for the money they lost.
