Woman Uses Brother’s Memorial Code to Win $50K in Pick 5 Game

A woman decided to play the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game, using her late brother’s numbers, which resulted in a $50,000 win and another lottery anecdote to grab news headlines.

The winner, based in St. Mary’s County and known to the public as “Porky,” is exercising her option to remain anonymous, posing for the photo with the oversized check but withholding more personal information.

Trip to Jamaica and Covering Bills Next on the Ticket for Winner

Porky won during the June 24 drawing, securing the right five-digit combination using her late brother’s numbers. Her brother had passed several years prior, but his numerical legacy has resulted in a solid win for the player.

Porky’s previous best win was worth $50,000. She claims the money in the company of her best friend and her son, visiting the headquarters, and has already confirmed that she has plans to go on holiday in Jamaica.

Porky’s friend also shared that they were similarly excited to start giving the lottery a shot more often, while the winner said that she will use the money to take care of bills at first.

The winning ticket was bought at the Accokeek Gas & Go located at 201 Bryan Point Road in Prince George’s County, which will also receive $500 as a bonus for selling the ticket.
