Yet Another Californian Wins Match 5 Prize from Powerball

The Wednesday Powerball drawing has awarded a Match 5 prize to a lucky ticket holder in California. This comes only a few drawings after another player in the same state won a similar prize.

Another Californian Wins Big with Powerball

Yesterday’s Powerball drawing saw a lucky player in California match the five white numbers to secure a Match 5 prize. While the player narrowly missed out on the $283 million jackpot (cash value of $126.7 million), Match 5 prizes are also life-changing.

For reference, the winning numbers drawn on June 17 were 3, 26, 49, 53, and 61, plus the red Powerball 12. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 2x.

The biggest winner for the drawing was the aforementioned Californian. Since they didn’t have the Power Play feature active, they would have usually taken $1 million. However, California has a unique way of calculating lottery prizes based on the number of tickets sold, meaning that the actual sum the player will claim could differ.

In addition to the Match 5 prize, a dozen players matched four white numbers plus the red Powerball. Ten of them won $50,000 each, while the remaining two had the Power Play feature active and, paired with the 2x multiplier, will take home $100,000 each.

Powerball Jackpot Surpasses the $300M Mark

In the meantime, the Powerball jackpot has reached $302 million with a cash value of $135.3 million. The next drawing is set to take place this Saturday, providing enthusiasts with another shot at the mouth-watering top prize.

The Wednesday drawing followed a rather slow Monday drawing where not a lot happened. The only bigger winner for the drawing was a player who took $100,000 thanks to Power Play. However, there were no other winners of the game’s third prize.
