Back-to-Back PLO Finals Produce the Exact Same Top Two

The World Series of Poker may have wrapped up its bracelet schedule, but the action hasn’t stopped in Las Vegas.

The WSOP Circuit Horseshoe series got underway immediately after the conclusion of the 2026 WSOP, helping bridge the gap before the Main Event final table returns at the start of August. While several Circuit rings have already been awarded, two Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments produced an extraordinary repeat finish.

Taylor vs. Simon I

Thomas Taylor defeated David Simon heads-up in the $600 Pot-Limit Omaha event, then did exactly the same thing a few days later in the $800 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament.

It’s rare enough for the same two players to reach the final two of a tournament. To do it twice in consecutive PLO events, with the same winner both times, is even more remarkable.

Taylor first topped a field of 451 entries in Event #3: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha, earning $44,586 and his fifth WSOP Circuit ring. Simon collected $29,699 for his runner-up finish, while Eugene Moss rounded out the top three.

PokerNews live reporter Brett Slezak also found himself at the final table, but bowed out in seventh-place for $6,185.

Taylor vs. Simon II

Just three completed events later, the pair found themselves facing off again.

This time the buy-in increased to $800, attracting 247 entries, but the result stayed exactly the same. Taylor once again got the better of Simon in heads-up play, banking another ring and $38,826, while Simon added another runner-up finish worth $25,549.

888poker ambassador Vivian Saliba completed the podium in third place.

Taylor beacme the first multiple winner of the series and has already collected more than $83,000 across his two victories. Simon, meanwhile, has turned the pair of deep runs into over $55,000 in prize money, even if he’ll be wondering what it would have taken to reverse the result.

Familiar Faces Finding Success at Horseshoe

Tournament crusher Justin Arnwine claimed one of the biggest scores of the festival by taking down the $600 Monster Stack for $77,485 and his second circuit ring. The victory was the 152nd recorded live tournament win of Arnwine’s career, a truly astonishing number. It also pushed his live earnings for 2026 beyond $435,000 after several impressive showings during the WSOP.

Spain’s Juan Maceiras also added a piece of WSOP hardware to his résumé. Maceiras, best known for finishing eighth in the 2023 WSOP Main Event, won the $1,125 No-Limit Hold’em event for $54,978.

The biggest winner of the series so far is Andrew Ostapchenko, who collected $115,890 after taking down the $2,200 High Roller. Ostapchenko defeated David Peters in heads-up play, denying the five-time bracelet winner another major title after Peters finished the 2026 WSOP on a high by winning the $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship for $1,001,391 and his fifth career bracelet.
