Jennifer Tilly Continues to Roll Over Competition on Hellmuth’s Home Game

Hellmuth’s Home Game presented by Poker Night in America (PNIA) and sponsored by BetRivers is once again airing on CBS Sports on Monday nights.

The nationally televised show, which was filmed at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, is unique in that there is no commentary. Instead, the show is carried by table talk from Phil Hellmuth alongside a cast of fellow pros and friends in an intimate, relaxed cash game setting.

PokerNews watched Episode 31 and compiled a recap of some of the biggest hands and interesting storylines.

Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:

The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.

Lindgren Picks Wrong Time to Jam

Jennifer Tilly raised to $300 with the 8♦7♥ in the hijack, and Erick Lindgren called from the button with the A♠10♣. Daniel “Jungleman” Cates then looked down at the A♣J♣ in the small blind and three-bet to $1,500.

Tilly folded, Lindgren moved all in for $4,975, and Cates snap-called to create a $10,450 pot. Lindgren was dominated, and the duo agreed to run it twice. Unfortunately for Lindgren, neither the K♠4♥9♠J♦7♦ on the first runout helped him, nor the K♥6♠2♥5♦3♣ on the second.

Cates scooped the pot while Lindgren was left to rebuy.

Hellmuth Straightened Out

On Hand #8 of the game, Hellmuth looked down at the A♠J♥ in the cutoff and raised to $300. Cates then three-bet to $750 with the K♣J♣ in the small blind and Shaun Deeb four-bet to $2,100 from the straddle with the 7♦5♦.

Hellmuth called off for $2,025 total, Cates called, and there was $6,325 in the main pot. Cates and Deeb proceeded to check both the 10♥8♠3♦ flop and 6♣ turn, and then the 9♥ river gave Deeb a straight. He bet $2,000 after Cates checked, and the latter folded.

Deeb tabled his straight and Hellmuth, who had been ahead until the river, was left to rebuy.

Tilly Tangles with Deeb

Xuan Liu raised to $250 from the button with the 6♥5♦ and Deeb just called with the A♣J♣ in the small blind. Tilly came along from the big with the K♠9♣, and it was three-way action to the flop of 9♠3♦J♦.

Deeb checked top pair, Tilly bet $400 with middle pair, and Xuan got out of the way. Deeb then check-raised to $1,300, Tilly called, and the 7♠ appeared on the turn. Deeb bet $3,000, Tilly quickly called, and she improved to two pair on the K♦ river.

Deeb checked and then called when Tilly bet $4,000. Tilly tabled her two pair, and Deeb flashed his hand and simply shook his head as his opponent was pushed the $17,500 pot.

Tilly Don’t Care About Pairs

Xuan Liu raised to $250 from the button with the Q♠Q♦, and Tilly called from the big blind with the 9♠9♦. Erick Lindgren then three-bet to $1,200 from the straddle and left himself $1,650 behind. Both Xuan and Tilly called, and the flop came down 10♥8♣3♣.

Tilly led out for $2,000 with her flush draw and Lindgren called off. Xuan called to create a small side pot, and the 5♣ appeared on the turn. Tilly coyly checked her club flush, and Xuan checked behind to bring about the J♦ on the river.

Tilly bet a modest $2,500 and Xuan called after saying, “I can call that.”

“I got so greedy. Why didn’t I just reraise?” Xuan lamented as she watched the $14,325 pot pushed to her opponent.

Flush Over Flush

In the last hand of the episode, which was Hand No. 43 of the game, Xuan raised to $250 with the A♣J♣ in the hijack and Tilly called from the button with the 10♣8♣. Cates called an additional $150 out of the straddle with the J♦7♥, and it was three-way action to the flop of Q♥6♣4♣.

Cates checked, Xuan bet $350 with the nut flush draw, and Tilly called with her inferior flush draw. Cates got out of the way, and the 10♥ appeared on the turn. Xuan bet $1,500, and Tilly, who took the lead with a pair of tens, just called to see the Q♣ river, which gave both players a flush.

Xuan, who had the better flush, checked to Tilly, who bet $2,500. Xuan then woke up with a check-raise to $,8000.

“Oh dear. Do you have a flush, too? A full house?” Tilly asked before calling. With that, Xuan took down a pot worth $20,575.
