Nick Schulman Could Achieve Rare Milestone at WSOP Final Table

Nick Schulman 2026 WSOP

Nick Schulman could become just the eighth player in history to reach the nine-bracelet milestone, but the second in the past two days.

The Poker Hall of Famer and popular commentator held the chip lead at the final table in the $10,000 Limit 2-7 Championship at the time of publishing. He could leave Paris Las Vegas on Friday with his second bracelet of the summer and his ninth ever, which would put him in an exclusive club — a club that Benny Glaser joined one day ago.

Glaser, who won three bracelets last year but still didn’t win WSOP Player of the Year, took down the prestigious $50,000 Poker Players Championship for $1,343,764. At age 37, he became the second-youngest player ever to rack up nine bracelets. Schulman could do it at age 41. Phil Ivey is the youngest, having done it at age 36 in 2013. Phil Hellmuth won his ninth at age 38 in 2003.

Schulman reached the 2-7 final table against some tough competition, including fellow Poker Hall of Famer Todd Brunson, who is looking to make it 12 bracelets for the Brunson family. Naoya Kihara, seeking his third title of the summer, is also in the mix.

But if Schulman, the chip leader, were to pull it off, he would likely overtake Alex Foxen in the WSOP Player of the Year standings. Glaser isn’t far off the pace in third place, a few points behind Josh Arieh, whom he beat heads-up in the PPC.

Schulman entered the Poker Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibity at age 40 last year. That hasn’t stopped him from continuing to chase bracelets and further grow his legacy. The longtime gambler took down Event #37: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. earlier in the series, his third of now five final table appearances at the 2026 WSOP. He is just two final tables away from tying the single-series record held by Hellmuth (2021) and Jeremy Ausmus (2024).

Schulman, at the time of publishing, had a big chip lead with just six left. Tommy Hang was sitting in second place. Justin Smith, aka “BoostedJ,” was holding on to the short stack, but is attempting to become the second Justin Smith to win a bracelet this summer. A different Justin Smith won the COLOSSUS.

The tournament will play down to a winner on Friday, with the champion taking home $392,478, which would bring Schulman to just under $27 million in live tournament cashes recorded by The Hendon Mob database.
