One lucky patron of the PT’s Gold at 8275 S. Fort Apache Road managed to turn a casual visit into something a lot more, as a simple $1 spin on a video keno machine resulted in a progressive win that totaled $305,889.44.
What is PT’s Gold?
PT’s Taverns is a popular chain of taverns that are exclusive to Nevada, serving food and drinks, as well as a wide array of both slot machines and video poker options. Under the PT’s Taverns umbrella is PT’s Gold, whose locations tend to be slightly larger than classic PT’s Taverns and are sprawled across the Las Vegas Valley.
Since the first location opened in 2005, there are now 31 locations across Southern Nevada, each involved in the jackpot awarded earlier this week.
The Progressive
The massive payday was the result of a progressive jackpot that was accumulated through all PT’s Taverns’ keno machines. With every game played on any keno machine across the brand, a tiny percentage is added to the jackpot.
This was the first time that PT’s 10-Spot Giant Keno Progressive was hit, having been accumulating over the course of almost a year. Over 820 bartop keno machines were involved in the progressive, across 65 participating taverns, which have all now been set back to $50,000 as the progressive starts again.
A Record-Breaking Win
On the keno machine, a player must pick ten numbers from 11-80. Similar to bingo, the game then fires out 20 numbers of its own: the more matches between machine and player, the bigger the win.
Unbelievably, all of the player’s picks were in the machine’s 20 numbers, scoring them a more than $300,000 payday from an original stake of just $1. This jackpot was the largest Nevada keno jackpot ever in a “restricted gaming environment,” a blanket term that covers places such as bars and convenience stores.
This marks over $3 million in progressive payouts at PT’s Taverns’ locations since they were first introduced last October.
